MIX Broadcast
Temporary Radio Studio for London
At the end of 2009 we were approached by production company Folded Wing looking for someone to build a radio studio for a Red Bull event in London. The job involved designing a radio studio from the ground-up. It was to be built in a conference room at Red Bull's offices and would be dismantled after just two months. Everything was designed and constructed from scratch including the woodwork, acoustic treatment and even the playout software. The studio was used daily during the Red Bull Music Academy event by broadcasters from around the world and in the evenings went live on national radio in the UK.

The wide range of users and their demands required some careful thought. We needed a simple to use studio with functionality for live radio links, streaming, DJ mixes, talk shows, band sessions and anything else that would be thrown at it. One of the biggest requirements was that the studio had to look beautiful. It was used as the backdrop for numerous TV and internet videos during the Red Bull event. Pulling the studio apart at the end of the event was heartbreaking as it had more than served it's purpose and was praised as being better than many of the studios some people normally worked in.
